  2. Thanks, Steve. Glad you enjoyed it. My writing speed is not fast, but I'll keep posting stories as I finish them. A merry Christmas to you, too.

  3. Thank you Sir:)

You mentioned facebook in your story. Are you on facebook too?

  4. Steve -

I think you must be mistaking this story for another. There's no mention of Facebook in "Survivor: The Real Thing".

But to answer your question, no, I don't use Facebook. I hear good things about it from people who do use it, but I just haven't ever felt the need to go there myself.

  5. Oh sorry, I think I was mistaken.

How are you celebrating Christmas? I'm going over to my boyfriend's house tomorrow and celebrate with him and his younger brother. Any exciting plans for you, Sir?

  6. Steve -

My family (parents, brothers, their spouses and kids) descended on us on the 25th and the last one just left an hour or so ago. It's nice to have everyone in one place... but it's also nice to get our solitude back!

And now that the coast is clear, I plan to drag my husband down to the basement tonight after the kids are in bed. I think a gag might be necessary - wouldn't want to wake the young 'uns up with our noise!

I hope you enjoyed your Christmas with your boyfriend.

  8. Your command of the English langguage is impeccable. I congratulate you.

  9. Thanks for sharing.

I think that there would be at least 1 spare camera on the island, and if there were 2 camera men, that 2 cameras would be shooting most scenes. Bur, I'm thinking regular productions, and have no knowledge of how Survivor shows are recorded.

  10. Having frequently flown over the atoll of Ulithi enroute to Palau, I can fully understand how one might find sanctuary there. Magnificent to see and, one assumes, a great treat to show the very few residents some more amusing activities that also add to their ongoing desperation to maintain life. Money, there, would be without meaning but having seen the physical challenges and concessions wished upon the contestants, I have little doubt that their ultra Spartan life could be enhanced by what the 'Survivors' could teach them. After all, life is ultimately about survival by whatever means.

  11. I just realized that Episode "8" at more than 2 hours, 54 minutes is long enough to be Episodes 8, 9, and 10 with extra commercials.

  12. The final "episode" may not have been obtained from the studio, the live transmission from the atoll could have been "tapped", or overheard on the airwaves.

  13. Jimboylan2, you're exactly right. The story leaves unspecified the specific manner in which the last episode was edited and distributed. From the story: "[Richard] walks over to look straight into the lens. 'Of course, an enterprising techie there at the studio could probably find a way to edit up this final episode and distribute it through less conventional channels.'"

The implication is that some low-level grunt worker at the studio, presumably a gay guy with a taste for violence but maybe just someone looking to make a buck, stole the raw video and produced episode 8 from it. But you're right, the video stream could have been tapped or otherwise intercepted. Whatever backstory you like best works for me!
